Making the change from a typical American diet to a healthier organic and more whole-grain centered diet is no mean feat with my 6-year-old. I have to work hard to find products that she really likes as, with most children her age, she is hooked on the artificial, high fructose-laden junk that is aggressively marketed to kids. I refuse to buy anything with high fructose corn syrup in it so, needless to say, Pop-Tarts are not known in my house. When I saw these at Whole Foods, I thought we'd give them a try.



Now, a big caveat here: this review is not meant to endorse this as a healthy breakfast. Organic or no, it is still a treat. That said, it is something I will allow my daughter once a week, and it is something that she really enjoys. I'm a former chocolate Pop-Tart addict and I can honestly say that I like these even better. The more I train my palate, the more I realize that all those foods that are chock full of artificial ingredients are actually quite disgusting. These pastries are sweet, but not cloying so, and the chocolate in them actually tastes like chocolate. What a concept.



I also want to note that purchasing them through subscribe and save is a considerable savings over buying them in the grocery store. When all is said and done, I'll have paid about a dollar a box less by ordering these through Amazon rather than buying them at Whole Foods. I not only like to eat healthier, I also like to trim the fat from my wallet.

I bought these to replace the occational candy bar and for a grab and go snack. They are delicious and very filling. Yes they are made with healthy ingredients and yes they are organic. No this is not diet food. These babies pack a caloric punch similar to a candy bar and so you need to keep that in mind. They are great for being a little naughty without filling up on fake food and chemical frappe.

I have been searching for this cereal everywhere! I was so happy to find it on Amazon for such a good price. I had been looking for a cereal that would be good to add to yogurt and eat regularly. My husband does not like heavy cereal (lots of bran and nuts) and I like to have it hold up no matter how I plan on eating it (not crumble like granola). This cereal has flakes like many others, but it also has rice crisps! It is wonderful. It satisfies both of us. The almond slivers are nice and thin. It's a nice addition to yogurt, or, my recent favorite, add some blueberries and eat as regular cereal.

I bought this coffee for my girlfriend who prefers light roast coffees. She absolutly loves it and I'm ordering a second 3 pack today. I'm more of a medium to dark roast fan but I have to admit that this is pretty good stuff. The coffee is in a plastic bag inside the outer paper bag. If you're a fan of light roast coffee I would definetly recommend that you give this a try.

I thought I was doing the right thing by buying this coffee as Camano Island Coffee Roasters produces a lot of shade grown, fair trade coffee. Buying from amzn means buying in bulk. I can't believe this coffee arrived in bags that are not vacuum sealed! Both this decaf and the regular I ordered are just in unsealed paper bags. Anyone who knows anything about coffee understands what air does to it. Well this coffee arrived stale, with no life in it. I have 3 lbs of coffee that is not drinkable. I can only imagine how long these unsealed bags sat in a wharehouse. The beans are roasted evenly and probably were very good when fresh.

 "Very bitter coffee. Rude customer service!" 2010-05-28

I purchased this coffee because of the claims on the packaging that the beans were picked with integrity and with fair practices. I always look for these traits in my coffee, as well as look for organically grown beans. I also always purchase decaf and love strong, dark roasted coffees. So, I brewed this coffee in the same manner as I usually do, with a high-end coffee maker, and it was not good. It had a very, very bitter taste. Like I said, I brewed it the same as I always brew my coffee, added the same creamer, and it was horrible. I tried it again and again, over the course of a week, trying to get better results but it just never got better. This coffee tasted like cheap diner coffee and I was unhappy with it. I emailed Cafe Altura to let them know that I was unhappy with the coffee and would like a refund, and received the most rude email back from the president of the company. I mean, I was shocked! The president basically told me that my experience with Cafe Altura was not his problem and that he would not offer me a refund. I kindly explained my whole brewing experience, and that I was not happy with the coffee, and that I simply wanted to bring this to his attention. I was very polite in my emails with him and received snarky marks, uncaring and condescending put-downs and an ego trip. I was truly shocked by the level of customer service from the president of the company. After explaining my experience, and receiving a few rude emails, my email responses went unanswered. I again, politely, asked for a refund and to date my emails are now being ignored. I will never buy this coffee again and want to spread the word to my family and friends to stay away from this coffee as well based on my experience.

I originally started drinking Cafe Altura Dark Roast Decaf when I was pregnant, as I wanted to avoid caffeine. I chose this decaf because it's made with the Swiss Water Method, meaning there are absolutely no harmful chemicals. I continued to drink the Dark Roast while breastfeeding, but after that I started drinking regular coffee again. However, after just a month, I'm switching back to this Dark Roast Decaf. I like the taste, and I feel healthier drinking it. Like the previous reviewer, I probably make it a little stronger than the instructions specify--but then I do that with all coffee. If you're looking for a healthy alternative way to start your day (sans Folgers in your cup), this is a good option.

If you're looking for a full-bodied, rich dark-roast decaf, keep looking. The only way to make this coffee worth drinking is to use 1.5 times the amount I usually use for a dark roast. Even then, it's nothing special.

I bought this coffee for my girlfriend who prefers light roast coffees. She absolutly loves it and I'm ordering a second 3 pack today. I'm more of a medium to dark roast fan but I have to admit that this is pretty good stuff. The coffee is in a plastic bag inside the outer paper bag. If you're a fan of light roast coffee I would definetly recommend that you give this a try.

I thought I was doing the right thing by buying this coffee as Camano Island Coffee Roasters produces a lot of shade grown, fair trade coffee. Buying from amzn means buying in bulk. I can't believe this coffee arrived in bags that are not vacuum sealed! Both this decaf and the regular I ordered are just in unsealed paper bags. Anyone who knows anything about coffee understands what air does to it. Well this coffee arrived stale, with no life in it. I have 3 lbs of coffee that is not drinkable. I can only imagine how long these unsealed bags sat in a wharehouse. The beans are roasted evenly and probably were very good when fresh.
